Your data never shared

Ember is built around one promise: what you write for yourself stays yours. This page explains exactly what that means — what stays private, what you choose to share, and how you stay in control of your data.

Private by default

Every answer you give in your private questions starts private. Only you can see it, unless you change that yourself. Your boundaries — the things you'd rather not see in a story — are always private and are never linked back to you.

Sharing is your choice

When you allow an answer to shape suggestions or share it with your partner, that's a decision you make for each answer. Your partner is never told what you kept private — not through the app, through suggestions, or through anything a suggestion says or avoids.

What Ember doesn't do

  • No public profiles, feeds, or partner discovery.
  • No compatibility scores or guesses about either of you.
  • No advertising trackers, and nothing to sell.
  • No intimate content in notifications, logs, or analytics.

How your data is protected

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Private answers are stored separately from the stories you write together, and the rules about who can read what are enforced on the server — not just hidden in the interface. Ember does not claim end-to-end encryption; the app and its team can, when required, operate on your data under this policy.

Export or delete, any time

You can export your data and delete what you no longer want: individual stories, your private answers, or your whole account. Every deletion explains exactly what it removes. Deleting your account removes your private data and disconnects your shared space immediately.

AI suggestions and privacy

AI suggestions are optional and only use what both partners have approved for that purpose. Private answers are never sent to the AI. Before turning suggestions on, Ember explains what is processed and how it is handled, so there are no surprises.

The short version

Private answers never leave your hands. Shared stories are seen only by the two of you. If you ever want proof, export your data or delete it — the controls are yours, in Settings, with no questions asked.
