Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of Ember. They're short and written to be read — please do read them before creating an account.
Who Ember is for
Ember is a private space for two consenting adults in an existing relationship to explore ideas and write fictional stories together. You must be at least 18 years old and confirm this when creating an account. One couple shares one space; there are no public profiles, feeds, or partner discovery.
Your account
Keep your sign-in credentials private and don't share your account. You're responsible for activity that happens through it. Either partner may disconnect the shared space at any time without the other's permission; doing so removes the other partner's access to the shared space immediately.
Your content
Stories written in a shared space are jointly authored by the two partners and attributed only to deliberate submissions — the app never posts as a partner. Content you keep private remains yours alone. You may edit, pause, end, or delete stories you've written together. Deleting your account removes your private data; jointly authored stories are governed by the deletion options shown to both partners.
Acceptable use
- Fictional characters must be clearly adult.
- Don't pressure, coerce, or humiliate your partner — Ember is built so no one has to disclose anything.
- Don't use Ember to impersonate real people, generate content about real individuals, or create imagery: Ember is text-only.
- Don't attempt to access another couple's space or another person's private answers.
AI suggestions
Suggestions are optional, never posted automatically, and only use what both partners have approved for that purpose. Suggestions are ideas to react to — accept, edit, regenerate, or dismiss them. They never claim to know what either partner wants.
Ending and deletion
You can end a story, disconnect your shared space, or delete your account at any time. Each deletion explains what it removes before you confirm. After deletion, your private data is removed as described in the deletion screen and in our Privacy page.
Disclaimers and changes
Ember is provided as is, without warranties, to the fullest extent permitted by law. These terms may change as Ember evolves; significant changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. For how we handle your data, see our Privacy page — the privacy promise is part of these terms.
